Most people who have problems with drugs or alcohol are apprehensive about seeking treatment for their addiction and one of the reasons is due to the detoxification process and withdrawal symptoms. There are also a lot of people who have detoxed on their own or have sought help from a detox center and relapsed because there was no follow up treatment or counseling received when their detoxification process was completed.
Research shows that when detoxification is combined with counseling and positive support the chance of relapse is reduced and recovery is much more successfully achieved. At ADRC Detoxification Center in Hartford, Connecticut, each of their adult clients receive medically monitored detoxification including a counselor receiving individual and/or group counseling daily.
ADRC clients are also offered Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous meetings that take place on site five evenings a week. Clients at ADRC receive safe detoxification and are provided with education and motivation for referral. Their clients are not only provided with safe detox, but the tools and support needed to manage their recovery.
Their detoxification center is open 365 days a year, 7 days a week and 24 hours a day for admission depending on their bed availability. Because all clients are different and their needs are too, the length of stay at ADRC Detoxification Center is individualized. The maximum stay is five days but on average is three days. Sometimes a client may have a psychiatric or medical problem that can't be managed through their medically monitored detoxification program and they are referred to a higher level of care.
