Youth Center For Teen Counseling

A Treatment Facility in Rome, New York

Counseling is provided for adolescents and teenagers at Youth Center in Rome, New York and run by licensed therapist to assist with problems young people experience during this time in their lives. Because substance abuse is so prevalent among young people today, many of their clients are teens that experiment with drugs or alcohol and because of their choices they're risking addiction and serious health problems if they continue.

Sometimes young people begin to act out during the teenage years and it's just part of growing up and pushing limits but that's not always the case. Many of the young clients Youth Center sees are struggling with problems and the only way they know how to deal with them is by acting out or unfortunately dabbling in risky behaviors. Some of these risky behaviors include drinking alcohol, smoking marijuana, smoking cigarettes, or experimenting with drugs.

Their young clients are given psychological assessments making sure ADHD, depression or other emotional disorders aren't present and can be ruled out. Some of the problems young people face during the teenage years may seem small or minor to adults but to a young person, they are devastating. Unresolved problems or issues can lead them to act out, experiment with drugs and alcohol or become depressed.

The therapists at Youth Center realize that peer pressure, low self-esteem, struggling academically, a friend moving away, breaking up with a boy or girlfriend, separation or divorce of parents, abuse, or other family issues are sometimes underlying reasons for developing behavior problems among teens. Developing trust and respect is very important and young people receiving help at Youth Center are able to achieve that with their therapist.

The therapists at Youth Center provide their young clients with understanding and respect and together they're able to find solutions to problems and work through them. They educate their clients about the serious risks and dangers involved with drug and alcohol use and other risky behaviors. Together they set realistic future goals for their clients and help them develop the skills to achieve them. Parents and caregivers are involved during parts of their child's therapy in order to develop healthy communication and trust within the family.
