Addiction is a powerful, controlling and lonely chronic illness that's difficult but not impossible to overcome. Alcoholism and drug addiction aren't curable illnesses but they are very treatable. Unfortunately many of those suffering from addiction don't obtain help until they've hit their rock bottom which often significantly increases the level of difficulties faced and the level of help needed to recover.
